First Communion is usually celebrated in the second grade. Parents are involved in every step of the First Communion process.
A group parent meeting is held in the fall with both the Pastor and the Director of Religious Education. The meeting is designed to assist parents in working with their child for receiving the Eucharist. The students are required to study the sacrament, attend Mass every Sunday, participate in two First Communion Rituals, and attend the Parent/Child “Jesus Day” workshop in order to be prepared for this sacrament. The Religious Education Program catechists and St. Michael Parish School teachers will also help prepare the children for their First Eucharist.
